Been awhile...

Sorry it has been awhile since I have posted, I have been super busy! I will post some 3x3 notecards I have been working on for a swap, another male card, and maybe some sewing/embroidery projects I have been working on! :)

Mini Haul Video!!

Mini-Walmart Haul

Hey everyone, I just got back from a trip to two different Walmarts in search of pop dots, but to no avail! However, I did find some things of interest. I made a video showing everything off, however, it came out really dark, so I will try again tonight, with some extra lighting.

I got:
~Martha Stewart Edge Punch- Train ($5.00)
~Martha Stewart Edge Punch- Arch Lattice ($5.00)
~Martha Stewart Pigment Ink Pads- Pastel ($4.00)
~Martha Stewart Pigment Ink Pads- Aquarium ($4.00)
~Martha Stewart Pigment Ink Pads- Floral ($4.00)

As comparison:
At Joann the punches are $15.99, they do not carry the ink pads (at least online they don't).
At Amazon the ink pads are $9.99

I would suggest checking your local Walmart(s) for the best prices, because the same day I bought these I seen them at a different walmart for $2.00 more.

Like I said earlier, I will try to make another video tonight, using better lighting and I will "test" everything on camera for the first time (should be humorous! :) )

Valentine's Card

I know it's no where near Valentine's Day but I was on a card making kick so this was the end result of the night.

The stamp was bought at Michael's for $1.00 in February.

I used the cuttlebug folder: D'vine Swirls

Get Well Card

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This may not look like a get well card, but you will understand in a minute.

My grandma loves animals and so when a pit-bull randomly ended up in her backyard, she took her in and cared for her because no one would take her, and if she went to the shelter they would put her down. She is extremely lovable and a complete people person, but she must have been trained to fight, because every time she sees another dog she attacks. My grandma has two other dogs, so she had to keep them separated and let the pit out at separate times so the dogs would never come into contact. Just recently she forgot one of the other dogs was still outside when she let the pit out and of course the pit attacked. She (stupidly in my opinion) tried to break the dogs up and she was severely injured, more so than either dog, she is not able to use her hands as they have cuts and bites all over them and she had rug burn from the outdoor carpet on her face and arms from wrestling with the dogs. She has a since of humor and she thought this card was perfect for the occasion and I knew she would so I made it for her.

It was made using a retired Stampin Up Stamp: Golden Oldies, it says "My mind not only wanders--sometimes it leaves completely."

I also used the cuttlebug folder: Textile

Old Man Card (Grandpa's Birthday!)

I made this card for my Grandpa for his birthday this past week.

I used a retired Stampin Up stamp: Golden Oldies, it says "I still have a full deck. I just shuffle slower."

I also used the Cuttlebug folder: Distressed Stripes

He liked it and I hope you like it too! Leave me a comment if you do! :)

Some of my Photography

Sorry for the watermarks, but I am really proud of these photos and I would hate for someone to steal them.

Mom's Birthday Card

I attempted to participate in the MCPT Challenge each month on Cricut.com but like I said I got sidetracked from crafting and focused on school. This image was from January!! I thought it was perfect for my mom because she is trying to eat healthier now. I scraplifted the idea from someone on cricut.com because I thought it was too cute, I did change it up some...

I used the gamsol technique (MCPT) and then went over the balloon and icing layers with clear stickles to make them sparkle. I pop dotted the whole scalloped thing up, but you can't really tell. The "dots" around the scalloped edge are skittles :)

Thanks for being a GREAT professor!

I wanted to make a simple card to give to my professor that I really appreciated so I come up with this:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It was made using MTC and then I used stickles all over it to give it color! :) I like it! :) For easter, my lovely finace bought me Cricut Markers so I used those to write "Thanks for being a GREAT Professor" on the inside (no pics or that part though...)

Been a LONG time!!

I have been very focused on school work so I have had no time to craft! :( However, it is now summer, so I have been crafting as much as I can and I will post some of my stuff now. :)

First attempt at the Gamsol Technique-Hedgehog

I wanted to try the gamsol technique so I pulled out my old colored pencils (wide mix of things in there, lol), a can of mineral spirits, and a blending stick, but I only have one stamp...

So...I went looking for coloring pages that I liked, I loved this one so I thought I would give it a try. I printed it out on white cardstock and went to town, it's certainly not perfect but for my first try it's pretty darn cute IMO anyway.

Not sure what type of card it is, probably a baby boy card...

Turning into compulsive liar...

If you knew me in real life you would understand my sayings a lot easier...Whenever I say something that I believe is true and then find out isn't or find out I can't do it or whatever the situation may be I say "Ok, I lied..."

Well this is another one of those situations... I thought I would go through the other forum and xpost some of my older projects but I realized there is nothing over there that I am that proud of or attached to that I feel like putting on here...so I lied again and I am not going to be including the dates in my posts because the one with the cheap earrings was the only one I am going to xpost...

Cheap Earrings...

FYI I previously posted these to a different forum I was a part of so I am working my way backwards and including the dates I originally posted them...

June 11, 2009

Well I was out looking for the crystals to make myself some Tarintino Knockoffs but while at walmart I came across some flowery crystal things that were uber cute meant to be put on cards or scrapbooks but I had another idea and plus they were only $2.00 for 20, so why not... (I ended up with 4 that didn't have pairs...so I ended up with a total of 8 earrings in varying sizes). So then I went to Joanns in search of flat backed earring things and bought both sizes so about $5.00. So in total I spent about $7-8.00 but I still have plenty of earring flat backed things to make more earrings so these were super cheap!! and I LOVE THEM!!!!

My Shopping Trip

So the other day I was on cricut message board and someone said that Michaels had some stamps and ribbon in a $1 bin that were related to Valentines day. Naturally I was intrigued and HAD to go. So I went and got a couple things, a few stamps one says "This Book Belongs to..." (I plan on being a teacher, so this stamp should come in real handy in the future...), one is kissy lips, and one that says "I love you." I also got four rolls of ribbon for a dollar and some other misc stuff. When I got home and pulled out all my new toys I realized I bought two of the "This book belongs to..." stamp. Oops. No biggy though I'll just take it back. Well while I was looking for my receipt I found a coupon they had stuck in the bag...It was for 60% off a regular price item!!! WOW! I pondered on what I wanted that I could get with it. Obviously I would not be able to get any Cricut items so I was rather lost. Until I began thinking about the cards I had just recently made...

You see I never had a cuttlebug, I had the D'Vine Swirls folder, but I used a rolling pin to emboss things...you can only imagine how hard it is, especially if you are doing it to more than one thing...

Anyways, then I was worried that Cuttlebug would somehow be classified as cricut, so when I got to Michaels I asked them, no one seemed to know, so I put the box in my buggy (can you tell I'm from the South, lol) and shopped around looking for skittles or dew drops... When I got to the register she rung it up and then took my coupon...fingers crossed...IT WORKED!!! I just bought an %80.00 cuttlebug for $35.00!!! :) HEAVEN!

I also bought some skittles for $5.00 (they weren't on sale and I didn't have another coupon...)

Then I went to Joanns "just to look"

I ended up buying a heat gun, 16 embossing powders, 6 A2 embossing folders (Stylized Flowers, Tiny Bubbles, Argyle, Snowflakes, Distressed Stripes, and Textile), and 5 Embossing Borders (the "With Love" set).

After everything (including the cuttlebug), I still spent less than the cuttlebug would have cost me had I had to pay full price for it!! Amazing!!

Although, when I was playing around with my embossing powders and such, I'm not too sure how I like it. When I see other peoples cards with embossing it looks really pretty but for some reason to me in person it does not... Idk I guess I will see as I try it on other things as well...

That is pretty much everything...

As far as cards go, that is pretty much everything I have done so far, in the following days I hope to upload some of my photography, jewelry, sculpture, and other crafts I've done...

My first design on DS (Easter Basket)

After downloading a ton of designs and seeing how everyone laid out theirs I decided to try one of my ideas festering in my head. This is what I came up with, I love it! :)

Valentines Cards...(Before DS)

I should have posted these before my DS cards but they were further back in my pictures...

Anyways most of the cuts are from Sweethearts and the Zebras are from Zooballoo (I think, may be animal kingdom, but I'm pretty sure it's zooballoo)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The heart in this one was originally white, but I colored it with eyeshadow, lol...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm not sure if you can tell in the picture, but this heart is embossed with D'Vine Swirls (like the hearts in the other cards) but on this one I took a q-tip and blue eyeshadow and went on top of the embossed parts, it looks like a very light silver blue almost in person, it is really pretty...

As always, I LOVE googly eyes!! :)

Mothers Day (Custom Crops-?)

I seen this one on Custom Crops as well and I am sorry but at the moment I do not remember who designed it, next time I go that way I will try to remember to look, so I can give her the proper credit.

I changed it up a smidge...

Love (from CustomCrops-Donna)

After getting my DS for my birthday I went through and downloaded all the cut files I could find, but I can only make a few of them as I do not have a TON of cartridges... So I seen this card by Donna on customcrops and I absolutely LOVED it, my fiance and my anniversary is coming up in March so this was just perfect! It's not nearly as beautiful as Donna's but I'm getting better.

Picture Sizing...

I realize that my pictures are really awkward because my camera automatically makes them really big and I try to stretch/skew them in paint and I am still trying to figure out the best size...

Mr. and Mrs. Card (Wedding)

My cousins getting married this February and one of her colors is lavender so after seeing a card very similar to this on the cricut messageboard I knew that I HAD to make it!

Couple Christmas Cards I made

Not going to list too much detail here, these are just pretty basic christmas cards...

This last one was my first spinner slidder idk what you call it card (I call it a spinner)...
I haven't made any more of these but I do plan too, it's soo much fun!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

All of the above cards had a different color (red, green, blue, white, or yellow) inside like the one below. Like I said before I absolutely LOVE the stamp I got for free when I ordered my face stamps from peachy keen, so it is in the corner of all of them, I think it adds a cute touch! :)

Birthday Card for my Dad

My dad is obsessed with hunting and fishing and when I made his card all I had was doodlecharms, paperdoll dress up, everyday paper dolls, accent essentials, plantin schoolbook, and walk in my garden, so I was VERY limited!! After scanning through the booklets some I formulated this idea in my head and it turned out great! I loved this card, it was my pride and joy! :)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It has pop dots all over it and since I don't have chalks I used eyeshadow! LOL I also cut a slit in the water and strung some black thread through and then glued one end to the fishing pole and the other to a drawn hook that attaches to a fish on the inside...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is the best picture I have of the inside (I know it kind of sucks...)

Alright!!

Well tinypic (the image site I use) is uploading my pics so I will get a small start on uploading some more of my crafts...then afterwards I'll make another post about why I am so frickin excited!!! :)

Sunday, January 17, 2010

ok, so I lied...

I'm having problems uploading pictures right now, so I guess I will have to post later...

Design Studio!!!

Yesterday was my birthday and my wonderful fiance bought me, guess what? Design Studio!! I was so excited I actually convinced him to let me have it the night before! lol. So I was really frustrated with it because I just could not figure it out and it kept making me update it...after 3 HOURS I finally figured it out with the help of all the wonderful ladies at cricut.com/messageboard. So I went through and was looking for cut files to see how it worked and I found some awesome ones at customcrops.com and I went ahead and made two of them! :) Then I worked up some courage with a hint of creativity and made my own design for an easter card, which I then cut out and put together (it will be in one of my posts in a few hours...)I'm pretty impressed with Design Studio and although I didn't spend the money to buy it, I think it is definitely worth the investment!

Been gone too long...

After school started back up, I haven't had much time to craft, but here and there I was able to do a few things, so in the next couple hours I will be posting all my projects.
